Hospitality Tasmania’s Women in Leadership program is an initiative seeking to multiply the stories of women in leadership within the hospitality and tourism industry.

Women in Leadership offers bespoke scholarship opportunities for emerging leaders, networking professional development events and a showcase of inspiring stories from women in leadership roles right across Tasmania.

It doesn’t matter where you are in your career journey. If you’re passionate about hospitality or tourism, or have a desire to lead others, you’re invited to take up the next step in your leadership journey.

Women in Leadership 2026 Scholarships

Tasmanian women working in hospitality and tourism are invited to apply for Hospitality Tasmania’s 2026 Women in Leadership Scholarship Program.

Whether you’re just beginning your career and ready to grow, or you aspire to lead at middle or senior management level, there is a course designed to support your next step.

In 2026, we have access to 13 courses — our largest offering to date — covering programs ranging from one-day intensives to 18-month nationally recognised qualifications.

We are proud to offer a diverse suite of professional development opportunities ranging from one-day workshops to nationally recognised qualifications and extended online programs through. Our preferred course providers for 2026 are Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Australian Institute of Management (AIM) and, Tourism and Hospitality Training Academy (THTA).

Diploma of Leadership and Management

Delivery: Online Duration: 12–18 months

Designed for supervisors or middle managers who have responsibility for a team of people. This nationally recognised qualification builds advanced leadership capability across team management, operational planning and organisational performance.

Certificate IV in Leadership and Management

Delivery: Online Duration: 12–18 months

Designed to develop emerging leaders and managers by taking a practical approach to expanding your own leadership and management capabilities. Ideal for those ready to formalise their skills and step confidently into leadership roles.

Project Management Essentials

Delivery: 1-day online workshop

Provides an introduction to the tools, techniques and resources you need to plan, develop and implement projects successfully. Perfect for leaders responsible for events, initiatives or operational improvements.

Strategy on a Page

This course provides the practical tools and frameworks necessary to successfully plan and deliver strategic outcomes. Ideal for leaders looking to sharpen strategic thinking and planning capability.

Leading People

Delivery: 7 modules | 6 months access

Designed for senior managers who wish to create a positive influence, apply a people perspective to decision-making and become an inspirational and authoritative leader.

Managing Team Performance

Delivery: 7 modules | 6 months access

This course will uncover ways to successfully manage your own workload and goals while developing a team culture of learning and growth.

New Leader

Delivery: 5 modules | 6 months access

This course examines ways to build credibility and trust, ensuring a smooth transition from teammate to highly capable and successful team leader.

Performance Management

Delivery: 1-day online workshop

Explore the end-to-end processes associated with the performance management cycle and gain the skills and confidence to drive a performance culture, set performance standards and lead others to achieve them

Time Management

Delivery: 1-day online workshop

Gain tools, techniques and strategies to analyse workloads, prioritise tasks and overcome procrastination. Learn to take control of your time, increase productivity and maximise effectiveness.

Finance for Non-Finance Managers

Delivery: 6 modules | 6 months access

A practical guide to analysing financial data and understanding the implications of financial performance. Covers financial management from planning through to budget review and reporting on outcomes.

Work Priorities

Delivery: 4 modules | 6 months access

Designed for those who want to gain control and manage competing demands in the workplace. Learn to manage priorities as well as your own professional career.

My Leadership Journey

Delivery: 2 face-to-face workshops

Participants select two workshops from the series, tailoring their learning experience to suit their leadership goals.

Foundations of Directorship

Delivery: 11-week online program

Open to new directors, senior executives and managers seeking to understand the duties and responsibilities of boards and directors. Comprising three separate courses, participants will learn the principles of governance, finance, risk and strategy.
