Hospitality Tasmania has welcomed a growing focus on practical measures to support Tasmania’s hospitality industry, saying governments at every level have a role to play in helping businesses through one of the toughest trading environments in recent memory.
Chief Executive Steve Old said recent proposals announced by the Tasmanian Government, Hobart City Council Alderman Marti Zucco and Labor Shadow Hospitality Minister Luke Edmunds reflected the type of practical, solutions-focused thinking the industry had been advocating for as operators
continue to navigate significant cost pressures.
“We appreciate anyone who is prepared to put forward genuine ideas that support hospitality businesses, create jobs and encourage more people through the doors of local venues.“Our industry doesn’t expect every proposal to be perfect, but we do welcome constructive ideas that recognise the pressures businesses are facing and seek to make a positive difference.”
