Tasmania’s accommodation sector has finished autumn on a softer footing than last year, with occupancy across the three-month period down 2.26 per cent as the industry prepares for its traditionally quieter winter season.
Hospitality Tasmania’s latest Accommodation Report shows statewide occupancy averaged 66.94 per cent in May, a 2.43 per cent decline on the same month in 2025. While demand softened, providers continued to achieve higher average room rates, which increased to $209.85.
Hospitality Tasmania CEO Steve Old said the figures reinforced the importance of maintaining strong visitor demand throughout the colder months.
