Tasmania’s accommodation sector has ended 2025 with a bang, recording a standout December result and confirming the year as one of the most successful on record.
New data from Hospitality Tasmania’s ‘Hotel Occupancy Report’ shows December occupancy increased by more than four per cent compared to December 2024, with Hobart ranking second among Australia’s capital cities, behind only Sydney – a result unsurprisingly boosted by New Year’s Eve demand.
Statewide, Tasmania recorded an average occupancy rate of 78.05 per cent in December, up from 73.99 per cent a year earlier, confirming strong late-year demand across the accommodation sector.
